God is good. Sometimes he allows us to see things in order to protect ourselves, our children and our family....from the evil one. Well, he allowed me to see something that helped me to make an important decision regarding my children's formation.
The other day I decided I'd give Sesame Street a second try. (I tried it 2 years ago with my first child, but I wasn't impressed with an episode that was a play on Desperate Housewives, which had the puppets moaning and groaning in a way that I thought wasn't quite appropriate for 3 year olds.) As a side note, I haven't even checked if they pulled the episode with Kerry Perry singing alongside Elmo in her bust-revealing shirt.
I recorded one episode. One night, one things were running a little wild in the house, I thought I'd let the boys watch a little Sesame Street. I decided to breastfeed the baby in the room where they were watching. A clip comes on with children singing a song all about Family. "My family is me, my family is my brother and sister, my family is mom and dad, my family is dad and my other dad." And I was like "what?" Did I just hear that or was I dreaming. A little later on is another clip comes on with a song showing images of familes. And wouldn't you know, they have two men holding their child. Man, was I angry. It's just not fair. But should I be surprised? There is a very calculated agenda that from a very young age (2?), children should be taught that it is NORMAL to be Gay, it is completely normal to have two dads or two moms. And now the truth of the family unit which God created, a Father, a Mother and a child, is slowly being erased.
We need to fight this! How can we do it? Well, stop watching Glee and Modern Family to start. Don't buy the Glee music CD's. Because when we do this, it supports the agenda of those trying to deform what a true family is.
It breaks my heart that I have to raise my sons in an age where everyone is trying to celebrate that which is disordered. But at the same time, it gives my husband and I the opportunity to really form ourselves in our rich, Catholic faith and become ardent defenders of the Truth!
